Arete Youth Foundation Supports High School Scholarship Program
Arete Youth Foundation has provided scholarships to 20 Roma high school students throughout Bulgaria funded through the support of a pilot program by American for Bulgaria Foundation.
The scholarships have been awarded to economically disadvantaged junior high or high school pupils that are limited by geographic distance from their school and that have achieved academic success. The purpose of the grant is to help students that demonstrate promise and motivation to continue their education. Each pupil will receive no more than 400 Euro per academic year and all textbooks, transportation cards and materials will be purchased through AYF. Additionally, AYF will monitor and support students as they work through the program.
"For me and my family this scholarship is very helpful because it will give me more confidence to continue my education,' said Mirela Idakieva from Bobov Dol. "I want to thank the organization [ABF] that grants scholarships to students."
